“Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength…
Variety: Grenache Region: Barossa Valley Alc/Vol: 13.5% Winemaker: John Harris
Colour: Bright crimson magenta.
Bouquet: Intense aromatic fresh fruits of cherry, cranberry, blueberry, Turkish delight and some exotic spices.
Palate: Voluptuous and plush fruit forward joven style with cherry ripe, blueberry and Turkish delight surrounded by great texture and plum tannins.
Winemaking: Sourced from a single dry grown 100 year old vineyard. The 2019 vintage was a tough vintage with dry conditions meaning yields were significantly down but we were lucky to avoid the frost and hail, although windy conditions during flowering did have a major impact on yields. All that being said it provided high-quality fruit which is bursting with flavour. Handpicked and transported in bins to the winery where we had minimal impact on the fruit and juice as possible. Whole bunches were tipped into open top fermenters with the balance crushed on top. Wild ferment, hand plunged 3 times a day and after 12 days on skins the fruit was basket pressed and transferred into stainless steel tanks before being bottled with minimal filtration and fining. This is as close to drinking pure Grenache fruit as it comes.
Cellaring: Ready to be enjoyed now or over the short term whilst the fruit is most vibrant.
